The holiday shopping season is always an excellent time to buy a new Windows laptop, but shoppers looking to spend in 2023 seem especially spoilt for choice. The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402 tries to stand out from the pack with an AMD processor and OLED display. It mostly succeeds, though its CPU and GPU performance fall behind some alternatives. Asus Zenbook 14 OLED: Specs and features
The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402 is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 7730U processor. It has eight cores and 16 threads, which sounds like a lot, but buyer beware: this is a rebadge of the older Zen 3 architecture, not the Zen 3+ or Zen 4 architecture found in more expensive AMD-powered machines.
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7730U
- Memory: 16GB LPDDR5
- Graphics/GPU: AMD Radeon Graphics (integrated)

- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Webcam: 1080p
- Connectivity: 1x HDMI, 2x USB-C 3.2, 1x USB-A, 1x 3.5mm audio, 1x MicroSD card reader
- Networking: WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3
- Biometrics: Fingerprint reader
- Battery capacity: 75 watt-hours
- Dimensions: 12.35 x 8.69 x 0.67 inches
- Weight: 3.06 pounds
- MSRP: $869.99
Asus sent me the full-fat version of the Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402, which pairs the Ryzen 7 7730U with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB solid state drive for $869.99. An entry-level model with AMD’s Ryzen 5 7530U, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB solid state drive is available for $699.99. I expect that model to significantly lag the performance of the variant I tested, but the less expensive configuration retains the OLED touchscreen.

Asus Zenbook 14 OLED: Design and build quality

Asus’ Zenbook laptops, which once stood out thanks to their flashy “concentric circle” design, went back to basics in recent years. That’s a bit disappointing. The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402 doesn’t look bad, but it doesn’t look great, either. It’s just another black laptop with a subtle metallic luster when the light hits it just right.
Whether the design is attractive is subjective, but it leads to more tangible problems. The laptop’s lack of texture makes it difficult to identify the laptop by touch and more likely to slip out of your hands. Asus includes a large rubber foot along the bottom-front edge of the chassis, at least, which provides a grip when picking up the laptop from the front.
The ho-hum design is a shame, because the Zenbook 14 has an edge over its peers in build quality. The chassis uses thick metal across the exterior to beef up rigidity, and it works. Display flex is minimal and the laptop feels rock-solid when handled from a corner or edge. Most alternatives from Acer, Dell, and HP suffer more display wobble, and those that use a plastic chassis often allow visible flex when held by one corner.
The Asus’ size is nearly identical to alternatives like the Lenovo ThinkBook Gen 6, Acer Swift 14, Dell Inspiron 14, and HP Pavilion Plus 14. All of these laptops use thin display bezels on three sides to achieve a slim, svelte profile similar to older 13-inch laptops. Weight is a similar story, though the Zenbook 14’s 3.06 pounds of heft does place it towards the lighter end of the spectrum of sub-$1,000 laptops. It’s easy to fit in a backpack or messenger bag, and you’re unlikely to notice its presence once stowed.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED: Keyboard, trackpad
My hands immediately found a comfortable flow across the Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402’s keyboard. While some keys (such as Tab and Backspace) could be larger, the alphanumeric keys are easy to find and have good spacing between them. There’s plenty of space along the palm rest, too, which makes the keyboard comfortable to use for hours at a stretch.
Key travel is not as impressive. There’s healthy key travel and a good sense of key activation, but the bottoming action feels vague. It works, but it’s not crisp, and it’s one aspect of the laptop that doesn’t feel as premium as it could.
Asus’ touchpad is typical for an inexpensive Windows laptop. It measures almost exactly five inches across and roughly three inches deep. That’s enough space to use most multi-touch gestures comfortably, though the depth felt a bit limiting while scrolling.
The touchpad serves double-duty as a numpad, a feature the Zenbook 14 shares with many Asus laptops. A long press of the numpad icon on the touchpad activates a backlight which displays numpad keys. 14-inch laptops aren’t physically large enough to include a numpad, so this feature is an advantage over Asus’ competitors, but it’s not a substitute for a real touchpad.

Asus was quick to adopt OLED panels when they became more widely available in 2021, and the Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402 is no exception. It has a 14-inch OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 2880×1800 and HDR support.
It’s a wonderful display that punches well above the Zenbook 14’s modest price tag. OLED’s effectively infinite contrast ratio provides deep, convincing shadows that draw your eye into the display. That’s paired with top-notch color performance and a wide, vibrant color gamut.
The display looks great on the Windows desktop, and in day-to-day productivity apps like Word, but really stands out in entertainment like Netflix or your favorite PC game. Content creators will also find a lot to like in the display’s color gamut, which achieves 100 percent of DCI-P3 and 94 percent of AdobeRGB. It’s suitable for a wide variety of amateur and professional content creation.
Sharpness is another perk. The display’s resolution of 2880×1800 works out to roughly 243 pixels per inch. That’s more than a MacBook Air 13 and greatly outperforms competitors that stick with 1080p or 1200p resolution (which pack in roughly 160ppi). Small fonts are easy to read and high-definition video looks crisp.
Brightness is the only notable downside. The Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402 achieved a maximum SDR brightness of 357 nits. That’s enough for comfortable use in most situations, but the display’s glossy finish allows significant glare. The display is hard to view in a bright room or outdoors on a sunny day.
HDR is supported and performs reasonably well for a budget laptop. I measured a maximum sustained brightness of 549 nits in HDR, which is a significant improvement over SDR and enough to provide some sense of added detail in HDR videos and HDR games. It could be better, but remember: this is a sub-$1,000 laptop. I’ve tested $1,000 monitors with less impressive HDR.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED: Webcam, microphone, biometrics
Asus crams a 1080p webcam in the Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402’s top bezel. It achieves a crisp image with good color reproduction, yet also allows plenty of noise into the picture. The result is usable for video conferencing but can appear grainy and busy.
I was even less impressed by the microphone. It recorded my voice with adequate volume but had a hollow, compressed quality. I also noticed the microphone’s noise rejection reduced the volume of my voice when I tilted my head too far away from the center of the display.
You’ll find a fingerprint reader built into the power button. It’s a convenient and quick alternative to typing in a password or PIN but, like most fingerprint readers, it’s unreliable if your finger is slightly wet or dirty. Cheeteo fans need not apply.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED: Connectivity
IDG / Matthew Smith
USB-C provides the bulk of the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402’s connectivity through a pair of ports on the laptop’s right flank. Both support USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alternate mode, meaning both can be used to charge the laptop or connect to an external display. The laptop ships with a USB-C power brick to charge the laptop through these ports.
The Zenbook 14 also had an HDMI 2.1 port, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD card reader. It’s a reasonable range of connectivity, though I would have liked to see another USB-A port. Ethernet is missing, but this is typical for many laptops sold in 2023—and Asus provides a USB-A to RJ45 (Ethernet) adapter in the box.
Wireless connectivity includes the latest Wi-Fi standard, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. Support for both is boilerplate for a modern laptop at any price point, but it’s good to see Asus doesn’t cut corners here. Wi-FI performance was solid in my testing with no unexpected dropouts.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED: Performance
The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402 I tested had AMD’s Ryzen 7 7730U processor, an eight-core, 16-thread processor with a maximum Turbo Boost speed of 4.5 GHz. It’s paired with 16GB of memory, a 512GB solid state drive, and integrated AMD Radeon Graphics with eight Compute Units.
These specifications set the stage for a showdown between AMD and Intel. The Asus Zenbook 14X OLED, which I reviewed several months prior, shares many specifications with the Zenbook 14 UM3402 but instead equips Intel’s Core i5-13500H. The two are similarly priced, as well (the 14X OLED has an MSRP of $799, while the 14 UM3402 is $869.99).
IDG / Matthew Smith
PCMark 10, a holistic system benchmark, turns in a respectable score of 5,812. That easily outpaces the Zenbook 14X OLED with an Intel Core i5-13500H, which only scored 5,089. However, there’s an important caveat. The 14X OLED only has 8GB of memory, and this does seem to harm its score in this benchmark. The Zenbook 14 does very well here, but it’s not clear if AMD’s Ryzen 7 7730U deserves the credit.
IDG / Matthew Smith
Cinebench R20, a heavily multithreaded CPU benchmark, again places the Zenbook 14 OLED mid-pack with a score of 4,289. This time, however, the Intel-powered alternative squeezes ahead with a score of 4,724. I found this a bit surprising, as Intel’s Core i5-13500H has just 12 physical cores—four less than AMD’s competitor.
IDG / Matthew Smith
It’s a similar story in Handbrake, where the Ryzen 7 7730U turns in a relatively lackluster performance. It required over 31 minutes to transcode a 1080p movie from .mp4 to .mkv using the H.264 codec, which is nearly two minutes longer than the Intel-powered alternative. The AMD-powered Zenbook also lands quite short of other small laptops though, to be fair, the Lenovo Slim Pro 9, Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360, and HP Dragonfly Pro are more expensive.
The CPU benchmarks show the Ryzen 7 7730U is a capable processor, but does fall a bit short of Intel’s Core i5-13500H. It also tends to underperform the Intel Core i7-1360P. This doesn’t sink the Zenbook 14’s forturnes, as this level of performance is adequate for a sub-$1,000 laptop.
Why is this the case? It’s because the Ryzen 7 7730U is built on AMD’s older Zen 3 architecture, not the Zen 3+ or Zen 4 architecture found in more recent AMD chips. Don’t get me wrong: the Zenbook 14 OLED feels plenty fast while browsing the web or working in Microsoft Office. However, shoppers hoping to snag superior CPU performance on a budget should consider an alternative.
IDG / Matthew Smith
The Zenbook 14 falls short in graphics performance, too. That might seem strange given the hype behind AMD’s integrated Radeon graphics but, once again, the details matter. The Ryzen 7 7730U relies on AMD’s Vega GPU architecture, which is now a couple generations out of date. It also has just eight Compute Units, four less than the 12 Compute Units found in top-shelf Ryzen mobile processors.
Real-world games struggle, too. Shadow of the Tomb Raider was unplayable at 1080p settings, as it achieved an average of just 15 frames per second (FPS) even with detail set to Low. Reducing the resolution to 720p improved performance to a barely-passable 31 FPS but, even then, the game took lengthy detours below 30 FPS.
Put simply, the Zenbook 14’s graphics performance is poor, and it makes the laptop a bad choice for PC gamers.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED: Battery life
The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402 combines a power-sipping Ryzen 7 7730U processor with a surprisingly large 75 watt-hour battery. That sounds like a recipe for strong battery life—and it is.
IDG / Matthew Smith
I saw an excellent 15 hours and 20 minutes of endurance in PC World’s standard battery test, which loops a 4K file of the short film Tears of Steel. That’s almost five hours longer than the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED with an Intel Core i5-13500H processor!
This is a light-load test, and I would generally expect real-world battery life to be a bit shorter (10 to 12 hours of general Microsoft Office productivity and web browsing is fair). Still, as the graph shows, the Zenbook 14 clearly outlasts many competitors.
The Zenbook 14 OLED’s portability is further enhanced by its tiny 65-watt USB-C power charger, which measures just 2.25 inches wide and an inch thick. It’s easy to toss in a bag and, if you do forget it, the laptop can be charged by a wide variety of USB-C power adapters.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED: Should you buy it?
Asus Zenbook 14 UM3402 is a solid entry into the sub-$1,000 laptop arena. It feels more durable than many competitors, packs a gorgeous 14-inch OLED touchscreen, and achieves over 15 hours of battery life. These perks are hampered by mediocre CPU and GPU performance, boring design, and a mediocre touchpad. Whether it’s for you depends on your priorities. Those seeking battery life and a beautiful display should absolutely snag it, while shoppers focused on performance should pass it by.

Outstanding. The ASUS ROG Strix G16 is an absolute powerhouse and a dream machine for gamers and creators alike.Equipped with top-tier hardware, this laptop handles everything I throw at it effortlessly. Gaming is buttery smooth even with maxed-out settings, and multitasking is seamless thanks to the powerful processor and ample RAM.The 16-inch screen with its high refresh rate is stunning. The colors are vibrant, the details are sharp, and the fluidity makes fast-paced games feel immersive and responsive.Sleek, modern, and undeniably ROG. The RGB keyboard is customizable and adds a premium feel, while the cooling system is highly effective and keeps the laptop running optimally even during long sessions. For a gaming laptop, the Strix G16 strikes a great balance between performance and portability. It’s lightweight enough to carry around without sacrificing the power you’d expect from a desktop replacement. While gaming laptops are known for short battery lives, the G16 pleasantly surprised me with its efficiency during non-gaming tasks. For the specs and performance this machine offers, it’s worth every penny. It’s an investment that will serve well for years to come.Whether you’re gaming, streaming, or editing, the ASUS ROG Strix G16 is a beast. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a reliable, high-performance laptop!
This was totally a better laptop than I expected. I am writing this review to get an extension from ASUS for my laptop warranty but don't let that think you are fooled because of what I am about to write... everything is truthful and here to help you!First... I had an Alienware laptop before and it was just SO LOUD. And hot. I decided to look for a new laptop within my budget and crossed my fingers that it would actually be good. Well... this computer blew me away with everything I had expected from it. First, it is very lightweight but has a nice, smooth finish to it that feels very durable. The graphics are absolutely incredible and the sound is great. I will definitely like using this laptop whether it be just playing games, watching videos, or writing some poetry! It has all my needs covered. It is also SO QUIET. I am almost in shock at the difference this was compared to the Alienware that was just so much more expensive. The battery life is much better as well. I love the lighting on the keyboard, it just goes with my personality. It's quick, easy to personalize, I really am happy that I bought this computer and not something else. The keyboard is also so much quieter. I won't be waking anyone up while I am up late at night messing around online! I highly recommend this... your money won't be wasted. Good luck and have fun!
Great Gaming Laptop. Going on a little over a month of owning it I kept forgetting to write a review but such a GREAT laptop, it works so fast, smooth and has great graphics. The cooling system is perfect, I play a lot of sims and that game always made my last laptop super hot, this one feels like nothing!!! The colors from the led strip on the laptop itself is SO cool!!!! The battery life is great too!!! The size is perfect, bigger than my old one and I love it!! It’s definitely easy to use and navigate, all around it’s perfect for gaming, if you’re playing games like gta or other games similar to it, don’t hesitate my last laptop was a older model and worked great- this one would be greater!!! Don’t hesitate!!
Excellent Deal! Great Gaming Laptop. I wanted to buy another laptop for work purposes but also be useful for travelling and for gaming so I saw this laptop for sale during Black Friday! Excellent purchase! Here is my pros and cons after a week of owning this:Con:1. 1920 x 1200 FHD 165Hz Display is very much an downgrade against my Legion 5 Pro 16" 2560 x 1600 IPS LCD 165Hz Display... But I guess with the parts offered, ASUS had to make some budget cuts somewhere I guess... (for the model I've chosen and not wanting to spend more than $1500 USD).2. Automatic MUX Switching is annoying... it optimizes which option to best suit for your current usage at the time (e.g. if you ran an game vs closing the game and brings you to the desktop). The automatic switch seems like its great and all but it ruins the display setting and when an game is playing, it switches again and sends you back to the desktop and ruins the display setting/resolution once more... Its best to just set it on the dedicated GPU option so you dont have to deal with this...3. Standard SSD Capacity is too low (again with cost saving measures but literally everyone these days just buy additional SSD stick anyways)... so snagged an SK.Hynix P41 SSD 2TB stick on sale to manually install for loading heavy application and games on there; really easy to install and easy to unscrew the back; there is an empty NVMe Gen4 M.2 2280 slot for you to install your SSDWorks Great after installing correctly and no Issues now! (make sure after install of SSD, just load into Windows and open up disk management to reformat (quick format! never full on SSD!) No need to tinker with BIOS setting...Do not tighten the SSD screws too much where the stick bends! thats incorrect! screw in ever so slightly so that the stick itself wont lodge out or move at all.Pros:1. RTX 4060 8GB - 140W Max TGP2. i7-13650HX - beats my Ryzen-7 5800H on my Legion 5 Pro3. RGB bar looks awesome!4. Battery 90WhNeutral:1. RGB Keys - heard mixed reviews on ASUS's design on this; of course, the Legion 5 RGB keyboard design is the best of the best but this is just okay and its not too bad in my eyes.2. Same weight and nearly the same dimensions as my Legion 5 Pro so portability is the same-ish but way better than my old MSI gaming laptop from 2017 where you can put this in your backpack and still have room to put other accessories and such. This is all I've noticed currently but either way, its a great mid-tier gaming laptop! I can run cyberpunk all max setting without issues or framerate drops and every other AAA game titles up to this point... This laptop should last an long time until AAA games becomes more graphically intense and requiring more processing power... but again this is the best you can get for your money and highly recommend!

Great item for gaming, delivery fast
I purchased this laptop from this seller, and i am extremely satisfied. The device arrived promptly, well-packaged, and in perfect condition with the seal intact. I contacted the seller to confirm the product authenticity and they were very polite, kind, helpful, and attention to details. I would highly recommend this seller and would gladly shop with them again in the future .

Medium level laptop with lots of power and features. Excellent value for a quality Asus line. This 14" laptop is compact enough for travel especially on airplane seats when the table has so little space. I used to have a 17" old laptop and the screen gets "crushed" when somebody in front reclines the seat. However 14" can be little small for daily use but I am at a age using reading glasses so I don't have any problem seeing smaller words. At first I was afraid to go into a new laptop with windows 11. I got used to it very quick and no problem from the beginning. You can modify Windows 11 to look like Windows 10 but with better features. The monitor is bright and clear, pad easy to work and I can trust Asus with all its features and quality as I had Asus before. 512GB SSD is lightning fast and plenty of space after Windows 11. Even though it is Intel core i3, the 16GB Ram helps speed up with most common daily tasks even with moderately speedy games. WiFi and Bluetooth connections are fast and smooth. This is a great for me as a second computer for mostly travel.
Great Laptop if you remove Windows 11 S. Processor and RAM are decent. Screen and keyboard with the number pad built into the touch pad mouse takes a bit to get use to. Excellent storage. The only drawback is Windows 11 S which will not allow any apps or software that isn't available from the Microsoft Store. It's a nice feature if you have small children or older people who are not tech savvy. If you want to be able to receive the normal updates from Microsoft and use outside apps then I recommend removing Windows 11 S. If you want to put it back on then you'd have to reset your laptop back to factory to do so. Other than that, I really enjoy this laptop.
A Great Option for $300. Very fast little chip. Quality workhorse, slim and portable. Overall, a great laptop for $310 after tax. If you upgrade the memory, make sure you get memory that works with Intel Laptops as well- the Gskills stick I tried would cause the laptop to not even post. The i3-1215U is actually a very capable little chip. Minecraft 1.21.4 runs at 180 fps +, and it runs older AAA tittles with ease, games from around 2007-2013 just fine.
Everything I Want & Need in a Laptop. Fast, lightweight and affordable with a sharp display. Clever incorporation of touch screen with number pad. Finally, a laptop that breaks from the paltry 250 or 500 GB SSD to a full 1TB which allows me to fully use my One Drive storage capacity. Perfect laptop for my photography and related projects. 16gb RAM handles multiple tasks with ease. The only issue I have is no SD slot but that's easily remedied with an adapter. Very pleased with this purchase.
Vivobook model X1404ZA. Blue. The media could not be loaded. This review is for the Vizio book 14 inch, with the i3 processor and 16gb of ram.The model per the computer is x1404za. It's not listed on Amazon but that's what it is.First this has pretty good hardware for the price of ~$300. The processor is about 4x better than the i7 in my old (10 years) laptop. The ram is fast. DDR4 3200 Mt/s which is very good and not listed so figured I'd let yall know.On task Manager it says it has Intel 8gb GPU. But I do not think this laptop has a dedicated GPU. So this might be a semi -lie. Basically it's a software that converts the CPU processor into GPU functions. But that's not the same as a dedicated GPU. Intel doesn't make GPUs anyhow. It's not a gaming laptop (regardless of the 8gb GPU listed) and I don't plan to even try to run games from it. It's probably going to be perfect though for viewing videos or anything like that. It's a work laptop for me so as long as I can do zoom, PowerPoints, and some stats software, it's prefect. The laptop is light weight which will be nice considering I pack it around daily.Additionally the housing is aesthetic. I also really like the number pad option. The screen seems pretty good. I have a 4k TV and looking back and forth, the laptop screen seems about the same quality and resolution even though technically, it's not. But it does look good.Be sure to do all the updates and bios updates when you get it. You will need a Microsoft email to set up Windows. That's how Windows works since a few versions back. Hotmail email works fine.It didn't come with a bunch of bloatware, for once! I appreciate that. Nothing like spending hours removing junk from a brand new PC. Glad they stopped doing that nonsense.Overall , had it a week. Works great. No complaints.
Several complaints. I have encountered several problems and I don't know if that was me or windows 11 or the laptop itself or all three combined.I have avoided upgrading to windows 11 until now, so I am still not used to it. In short, my problems may be caused by windows 11 as well. The Biggest problems I have are:1 The fan sometimes started to run when the memory was only used at 30%. The bottom of the laptop became really hot. The fan could work really hard and loud all the time and the web pages started to open slow. This could happen even when I only had 6 web pages opened. I didn’t play games. I installed very few apps.2 Sometimes it struggled to open apps like pdf, zoom and Line. Not always, but frequent enough to annoy me.3 The webpage could become unresponsive. For example, When I wanted to change the color on a Yahoo Finance’s chart. It failed. I saw the cursor, the color options, I clicked it and nothing happened. The screen is just unresponsive.4 Asus’s screen is clear, but when i switched to look at my Acer IPS screen. I found it felt much better. Asus’s night light color saturation is also worse than Acer.5 When I tried to return this laptop due to the above problems, I found out Amazon only offers 2 Amazon stores for drop-off which are about a 30 min drive away from home. If I need to drive to other cities to return, I don't consider it a free return. Why for something worth 30 dollars, Amazon gives you return labels for free shipping or lets you return to your nationhood Kohl's, but not for a much expensive computer?

Great Laptop for the Price. I got this laptop for my dad, and it’s been amazing! It’s slim, looks great, and works really well. The AMD Ryzen 3 processor and 8GB RAM are perfect for everyday tasks, and the SSD makes it super fast. The screen is clear, and the fast charging is very handy. My dad is very happy with it, and it’s a great deal for the price!
Best of both worlds. I love how slick and light the laptop is for a gaming system it’s works great the sound is amazing. It was very easy to set up and it was money well spent it might not be the newest of gaming technology but it’s definitely great for beginners like myself and multitasking with school and work.
A delightful surprise. The ASUS Vivobook Go 15.6” FHD Laptop, powered by the AMD Ryzen 3 7320U processor, is a delightful surprise in the realm of budget-friendly computers. Despite its classification as a low-end machine, it punches above its weight with a commendable balance of performance and affordability. The 15.6” Full HD display is crisp and vibrant, making it a pleasure for streaming videos, browsing the web, and everyday tasks. The 8GB of RAM ensures smooth multitasking, while the 128GB SSD provides swift boot times and quick access to frequently used files. Running on Windows 11, it benefits from the latest features and updates, delivering a modern user experience. While it may not be designed for heavy gaming or intensive software, the Vivobook Go handles everyday computing needs with ease and reliability. Its lightweight design and solid build quality make it a practical choice for students, professionals, and anyone seeking a dependable laptop without breaking the bank. Overall, the ASUS Vivobook Go 15.6” FHD Laptop stands out as a top contender in its category, proving that affordability doesn't have to come at the cost of performance and quality.
Great Little Laptop. No complaints here... built pretty well, does what I need it to do (primarily Internet and streaming). This is NOT a high end laptop, but compares well them and it accomplishes what I need well. The GPU seems good enough to let me watch what I want to - again this in NOT a high end gaming laptop so don't expect that performance. BUT Its inexpensive enough that if something happens to it I'm not going to cry (too much) and again its pretty solidly put together... especially when compared to other brands laptops at this price point (Lenovo I'm looking at you).So all-in-all for the price I'm happy
OS is awful. What I wanted to purchase was a budget computer because my needs are simple: I like to read and program. What I have received demands much personal information and an active internet connection to phone home to windows without any options to opt out. I have received two requests from Windows and Asus to advertise to me. I feel like I purchased spyware by accident. I have purchased Windows and Asus products in the past, and they were adequate, but I do not believe I will do so again. You don't get this hassle with Linux or Apple, nor Android (at least when I had one).EDIT: You cannot make a local account with Windows 11 Home S, your quickest bypass will be making a new account using a temporary email address (I like temp-mail.org) so that you can check codes they send you. From there you can use the windows store to find the 'disable s mode' (not called exactly that but literally on the windows store). If you want to go for a Linux OS you'll need a thumb drive to put the new OS on, you'll want to follow a guide but the gist is that you'll boot from the thumb drive and install the OS from there. I went for Linux Mint, I don't think you'd need a lot of technical skill but some comfort with googling will be required as there are some small hitches you can encounter. For this device particularly the built in driver manager will recommend a new driver for the wireless card - don't do it, it is mistaken.
Great laptop for school. I recently got an ASUS laptop, and it’s been fantastic! The performance is smooth and fast, perfect for multitasking and running all my apps without a hitch. The display is sharp and vibrant, making it great for both work and entertainment. Plus, the battery life lasts much longer than I expected. Overall, it’s a great value for the price, and I’m really happy with my purchase!
Good. Cheap but very good for small tasks, easy setup, feels good, but don't try gaming
Recibí el artículo en perfecto estado 💯 y por sus características el precio está excelente
Got it for Singapore $381. Wish it came with at least double the capacity of storage space; but can't complain for the price paid. Will do an upgrade after warranty expires.

Great size. I loved the size of the screen. This is for my stepson who is visually impaired. This laptop is great with the size of the screen and the backlit keyboard. I feel it's s good value. Arrived quickly and we're very happy with it.
Laptop. As expected, works well, Wife loves it.
Recomendado excelente producto. Excelente inversión
gets warm from down. this is my 3rd hp laptop, all 3 were getting warm and hot from down while using, I am very upset with hp system.
The media could not be loaded.

Amazing laptop. I have a lot of fun typing with it, it is fast with a phone chipset, vivid, light and quiet, and it does not heat up much like other Windows laptops in the market with the same range of price. Of course, it is a Chrome-based operating system, so you won't have Office and other Windows-based applications. But as a laptop to do my office work, browse the internet, and watch videos it is a steal! Quality is AMAZING.
Nitpicking about Caps Lock. Great product for the price! Battery life is long. Design of the keyboard is a bit unconventional, as there is no Caps Lock That i can find easily. Connects to Wifi easily. Keyboard feels nice under my fjngertips. Functions goodn
Great product. Setup was simple and fast. Actually better than what I expected and for the price you can't do any better today. Everything was smooth. Been some years since I had a laptop but I didn't feel like I was missing anything with the Chromebook. YouTube, letter, spreadsheets 👍 One month update - 🤩 I love it! Fast upload & shutdown and was exactly what I needed it for. I'm very happy with my selection and I hope you will too, be well.
Excellent computer. I bought this laptop refurbished as a backup for my primary (and increasingly unreliable) older Windows laptop. I have had nothing but good experiences with ASUS laptops.Pros: 1) Easy to use for most apps out of the box; 2) Adaptive options (I need visual adaptations); 3) Chrome OS is stable; Excellent camera for video calls (I didn't have to balance this laptop on a box.); 4) fast and no hang ups.Cons:1) Not all Android apps work on the Chrome OS. Microsoft 365 apps can only be used in the online versions which lack some functionality, although Microsoft has recently added features; 2) Initially, the computer wouldn't let me log in. I had to reset the operating system to be able to initially log in; 3) the computer is very sensitive to the strength of your wi-fi network. If you want to use Microsoft 365 apps on this computer, don't install OneDrive or any MS Word related extensions for the Chrome browser. Any of these will prevent MS 365 apps from running online. All in all, an excellent general purpose laptop.
beware of listed product details. the site listed touch screen but this was not the case and the seller claimed wasn't listed that way, yet I just pulled this off the ad site.Product DescriptionASUS Chromebook CM14 Flip is made for boosting productivity and having more fun — all day, every day. The 360° hinge provides the flexibility to remote study or work the way you like best. An efficient MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor and up to 14-hour battery life gives you the freedom to stay productive throughout the day. The 14-inch FHD Touchscreen provides an expanded view and supports a garaged USI stylus, enabling intuitive writing for enhanced productivity. Plus, the keyboard, touchpad and palm rest area with ASUS Antimicrobial Guard to inhibit the spread of harmful bacteria, durable build with US military-grade standard and water-resistant keyboard, keep ASUS Chromebook CM14 Flip protected when on the go.
Great starter laptop for kids. I bought this for my seven-year-old daughter for school, and it's been absolutely perfect. The battery life is impressive, lasting a long time between charges. She's found it really easy to use, which has made her schoolwork much smoother. Overall, it's a fantastic value for the price! Highly recommend it!
awesome little laptop. Homeschooling my 8year old.like any boy his age he is rough with stuff and this little laptop has taken a beating for sure.but it keeps on going! runs everything we need it to, he really enjoys taking pictures and this loads up his photos and he can do a little editing with them and has fun doing so.it is also grate because it has a nice battery life so when we go on long trips he is able to do some schoolwork and watch some movies while we drive. if this one ever has an issue would buy another for its replacement in a heartbeat.
After two years. It was great for two years and now the charging port won’t work. I didn’t even use it that much.
The charger is not suitable for Australia but for the US.
The first delivery didn’t arrive which I refunded and ordered another one. Been using it for lightweight web browsing and email and the battery life is really great! it’s one of the cheaper chromebook with a usb-c port charger which was convenient to charge. The rugged material is a bonus too

ASUS Vivobook 16 Review. I’ve been using the ASUS Vivobook 16-inch, and it’s a solid performer. The FHD+ display (1920 x 1200) provides great screen space, perfect for multitasking. The design is sleek in black, and despite the larger screen, it’s still quite portable. With the Intel Core i7-1255U and 40GB of RAM, it handles everything I throw at it, from multiple apps to heavier tasks. The 1TB SSD ensures fast load times and plenty of storage. I love the HDMI port for easy external display connection, and the Wi-Fi is strong and reliable. It comes with Windows 11, which runs smoothly, and while the webcam isn’t the best, it works well enough for video calls. Battery life is decent, but for power-heavy tasks, it drains quicker.Overall, it’s a powerful laptop that balances performance with portability.
Great value. This is great value for what you get. Super fast, great screen size, thin and light. Ticks all the boxes.
Absolutely love my new laptop. This laptop is actually incredibly fast! I just got it and I'm hoping for the best.I only wished that it came with a USB C charger for the convenience of charging my phone also, but that's the only thing i would wish for. Great laptop!
Awesome laptop. It's still early, just got it, but so far it's been a great product. Attractive, well designed, keyboard, very fast, easy to navigate and set up. needs another port. Love it so far.
Decent product from Asus, bad service, bad company, faulty policies. Nice, I see a laptop I need for my business and do not hesitate to purchase. It has decent reviews and fits my needs. I notice the company has a good return policy, 30-day money back guarantee just in case. So I go ahead and purchase it. First issue was the listing said 2 day shipping, not that it actually ships within 2 days. Second issue was the screen was damaged out the box. I immediately start a return. Third issue, I waited for a return label and had to reach out to Amazon after some days so they could contact the company to enforce this. This was after I already reached out to this company and received no response. Then, the next day they sent a return address stating that the customer is required to pay for return shipping. This already seemed strange since I had to pay for a return that had no issue being mine. Nonetheless, I pay for it and the company finally responds to my messages. After they receive it, they tell me I will receive a full refund within 3-5 days. I wait over a week and reach out to the company. Then my refund is finally processed with no response the next day. Only to come find out they kept all the tax from my purchase as a restocking fee which was never stated anywhere nor did they mention. I have been going back and forth with Amazon for weeks since my purchase to get the resolution I deserve; A full refund for a product that left this company’s warehouse and was received defective. My summary of this experience with this company is that they have decent electronics for a decent price, but they may come with defects or go out in a few months since, to my assumption, they may be refurbished or b-class items. Good luck if you have any issues because they will not be responsive and try to leave you with the burden of paying for return shipping and keeping fees that they don’t deserve for products they sold with defects. Please use your discernment if purchasing from this company.
Great Laptop. Fast processor. Works great.
Ready to go. Ease of setup. Much faster than I've had. Light and compact for screen size with good clarity on screen.

GOOD BUY, esp for battery life. [REVISED Apr 6 '24 for storage issues - see end.]I bought two of these. The oldest is 18 months old and still going strong (although the screen isn't as bright as the second one, which I never use except to update it). My first one was just $150USD and now the same model has gone up by $40USD. It's still a great buy.You can also find a nifty review on YouTube by the user First Look.***PROS:1. Excellent battery life. It really does last for 8+ hours provided you're not doing anything intensive like accessing a high-capacity USB HDD. Keep in mind that a bigger screen, a bigger built-in HD will drain your battery faster.2. Weighs 2.8 pounds (under 1.5KG).3. Still a great bargain at the current price (I bought two for $140 ea. over a year ago).4. The 14" LED screen works well for most purposes. I've noticed that my oldest one (18 months old) is losing brightness. But for the price, I'm not worried since I only anticipate 2-3 years' use out of it.5. Built tough like a tank - compare to Dell.6. Comes with Windows 10. The update to 11 is free. You'll lose some built-in HD space, but it's worth it.7. Built-in webcam and mic. I've used them for Skype and WhatsApp - not great quality but if you're traveling they'll do fine for those or Zoom.***CONS:1. Only 2 built-in USB ports. You'll need a USB hub. Note that a typical (unpowered) USB hub will not take a large-capacity USB drive. So if you want to run two of them, a powered USB hub helps, e.g.: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BZ46YVRK/ [NOTE: I actually daisy that with a standard USB hub and plug the former's power connector into it. It doesn't short on me.]2. The built-in keyboard and mouse pad are minimally useful. For traveling, consider a small external pointing device and a roll-up keyboard. (Which is yet another reason to have a USB hub.)3. Very little useful space on the built-in solid state hard disk (about 38GB available for apps and data). A USB HD will fix that problem; for traveling use large-capacity memory sticks. IMPORTANT: you have to turn off Windows' restore points otherwise your on-board space will deteriorate quickly. Be sure you back it up when you get it (you'll need a USB CD drive or a bootable memory stick). I keep very few "data" files on it. [Keep the ESC key pressed for boot options.]4. Not terribly fast, the processors are rated at 1.1GB. Supposedly it can be overclocked but I've never tried. It's a nice addition to a desktop, but most certainly NOT a replacement.5. You need to know your way around Windows for the best results. For ex., I had to create my own batch file to run MSPaint. (It's designed to prefer MS Office 365 which I refuse to deal with. Consider Apache Open Office - it's free.) Even tho' the processor is 64bits, I've been pleasantly surprised by how many 32bit applications seem to run on it.6. The built-in speaker sound quality is **dreadful**, but one can't complain given the size and weight. For traveling consider bluetooth headphones/speakers or USB speakers.7. Keyboard keys aren't backlit, but then the keyboard isn't very useful as I noted. When I'm in bed w/ wife, I just use an external backlit keyboard (lots of choices here - I like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRMCPPZ5/ ... that said, if you're on a plane and the lights are off, you're probably just going to have to live with your cell instead ... there's just not enough space on a tray table. For my money, it's not worth paying more for a built-in backlit keyboard.8. Will not hibernate (see below).***HD SPACE NOTES (built-in HD):1. I get the best results from setting PAGEFILE.SYS to a min of 2000 and a max of 3000 (roughly 2G & 3G respec.). Go toAdvanced System Settings | Performance | Advanced (virtual mem) ... you have to restart afterwards.2. I can't get this to hibernate (an annoyance when traveling). However HIBERFIL.SYS still exists. I got an extra 1.5GB by disabling hiberneration with this command (run from the command prompt as an administrator or power shell):powercfg.exe /hibernate off
I love this unit. I'm not a computer whiz, all i do is surf the web and take care of my books on this thing. But I find this unit to be lightning fast for what I do. I must admit I was a little disappointed that this is an older model ( 2021) but that would explain why it took forever to down load all the updates it had to go through. Once the setup was complete this unit is a whiz. Down loads are very fast (that's compared to my old azus lap top). I don't know what people are talking about when they say this unit is painfully slow. But then I'm not a gamer. For people that use their lap top for normal every day tasks like me, this unit is the best I've ever had and the price is right too. BTW, it seems to be solidly built. I HIGHLY recommend this laptop.
Great Value for a Linux Travel Laptop. The laptop came bundled with Windows-11 installed, rather than Windows-10. Frankly, the machine is under-powered for Windows-11: Browsing via Firefox with multiple open tabs was painfully slow; Watching movies from an external hard drive stuttered. Once I installed Linux Mint, everything worked just fine, including watching videos from an external hard drive, and streaming Netflix to the hotel TV.It'll cost about $65 to get this up to snuff: $15 for a USB Ethernet Adapter/hub, and $50 for a 1TB M.2 SSD. Still, that brings the total cost to $200, which is an excellent price for a travel/vacation laptop.
Broken not working laptop that was given to me broken. I told u what happened to it it was defected not coming on it has a black screen and won't display anything or turn on I want it replaced because the dis play screen is nothing but black screening no display at all do to what I think it got thrown onto.the truck by the.driver who delivered it not anything I did it had to be by u or them it's unexpected bye I need it replaced thank u emaile with a response as soon as possible thanks
Runs Great with Linux. Nice looking dark blue laptop with clean design. Keyboard is not backlit, but typing experience is good. The hardware is under-powered for Windows, but I installed Linux Pop!_OS and it runs great for online computing and watching videos (4-5 hours battery life). This is not a good computer for any heavy work, such as video editing. I wouldn't want this as a main computer, but for $135 it is a perfect choice for an extra computer to float the house.
Good for the price, slow, no sd card slot. We needed an inexpensive computer for our son when his chrome book tanked. I saw that people said there wasn’t much memory, but I didn’t notice there isn’t a spot for an sd card.
Good with Linux. I got this for running Lubuntu, it worked great on first try, Wi-Fi is recognized etc. There is a spare m2 slot which i used to plug in a 512gb card for installing Linux, which leaves windows intact. I'll update the review if I encounter issues. After initial couple of hours it looks perfectly workable for Internet browsing, banking, Google docs, LibreOffice etc. I am sure Windows would be slow with 4gb memory, but i don't plan to find out. Battery life was not a criteria for me, and i have not checked it yet.Edit 12/12/24 - works even better with sparky linux xfce flavor, it is debian based. I ended up replacing Lubuntu.
Great for the price. I purchased it for my 88 year old Dad he only plays games on it so it's great. He hasn't had it but a few days but everything is good so far.

User reviews
Easy setup, blazingly fast. I have only had this laptop for a short time, and have not used it extensively yet. But so far, I love it! It will be replacing a 12-year old Dell Inspiron, which is still going strong, but is painfully slow when trying to do things like enhancing photos, watching videos, or even having too many windows open, etc. The new ASUS ROG is of course designed for gaming, but I plan to use it mainly for my everyday computer needs. It boots up in seconds, and apps also open up incredibly fast. It came with Windows 11 Pro which so far I'm not too crazy about, but I supposed I'll get used to it. One minor negative (to me) is that when opening the laptop, the lid is such that there is only about 1/4" of the plastic around the edge of the screen. So unless I'm really careful it is easy to get fingerprints around the edge of the screen. Not a big deal, but a personal annoyance. All things considered I am very happy with this laptop.
Fast, great graphics, stays cool after long gaming sessions. Bought this for my son to replace an older gaming laptop. The difference between this and a 4-year-old MSI is remarkable. The graphics are amazing, the computer is lightning fast, and it stays very cool even after 8-10 hours of gaming. The fans are quiet, too. He and I are very happy.
It's ok, but came missing ROG standard software. There is standard ROG software that was missing, which makes me think the device was rebuilt? Not sure, but it booted to an error message at first boot, and then booted fine the second time. I am a 20 year IT professional, so I wasn't overly concerned with small errors. But something felt off. It's a beautiful, heavy, gaming laptop. Battery life is pretty terrible but that's to be expected from this type of device. I use Macs for work and I'll admit they have great battery life. I just loathe Macs in general (using one after supporting hundreds is less magical) so I'm willing to trade that to have more control over my device. I like it and I'm happy with the purchase. I was able to install the Asus apps from the Microsoft Store, so it's all good now.
Laptop. Totally liked it. Smooth little oversized but I love the performance so far.
Hard Drive. If you do purchase this laptop, be warned the hard drive may go out on you, mine did in the first week and I replaced it. You are warned.
Producto Premium. Ecxactamente lo que se describe.Producto de alta calidad con entrga rapida
Had to be returned. The laptop screen was defective and there was a dead pixel in the main viewing area. A massive restocking fee was charged on return. Buyer beware.
Trash. This laptop is slower than my daughters school Chromebook. This is not a performance laptop. This barely runs any games but all games even the default game on it take 22 min at a min to launch some take 2 hrs. Not worth the money. After all these years I tried ROG and still nothing but a letdown.
