★☆☆☆☆ HP does not honor warranty. I thought this was just the right PC for us. We don't need much, web browsing, some gaming, some MS Office work. Yesterday I saw that the laptop OS needed update so started it. Noticed it was taking some time so I just let it do its thing all day. Went to turn the laptop back on that evening, and got a flash from the monitor but nothing else. I knew it wasn't a power issue because the separate mouse (not included) was lit, indicating it was connected. Tried everything I could think of then went to HP website. HP tells me there's 15 days left on the warranty ("whew!") and gave me repair options (phone, chat, local warranty provider [Best Buy]). I chose to go to Best Buy. They worked on the laptop for about 25 minutes, and while I can't tell exactly what was done, I do know it was a series of keystrokes and a flash drive. Geek Squad hands the laptop back to me and tells me it's a hardware issue and not worth the cost of repair. I take the laptop back home and get in a chat with technical support. They have me do what appears to be the same steps Geek Squad did. Then they tell me I need an empty flash drive to reset/reinstall the BIOS. Now I'm not really that tech savvy, but I know enough to tell the technician that all the steps that they have had me do I already had done by Geek Squad, their authorized repair center. Tech tells me that without doing that last step with the empty flash drive they cannot determine that it is truly a hardware issue (really??!) and that they won't be able to give me a repair/replacement if I don't take that last step.Sorry, HP, but you cannot convince me that the cost of a replacement laptop is worth more than the bad taste in my mouth, and my withering review (not only on Amazon, but to anyone who asks) of your inability to honor your very limited warranty. I can't imagine why you wouldn't send a replacement of a low-end laptop just to keep positive goodwill towards your customers. And it's why I strongly suggest anyone reading this review to search for a different unit.

Plenty of RAM, which gives me some confidence that I won’t get too bogged down. Not too impressed with the build quality but I can’t complain for the price. The trackpad is annoying but you can just touch to click which helped SO MUCH once I realized that. Setup was a nightmare, but expected from Windows. Still it was worse than I expected. I think at least part of that is HP as the problem I had with the setup showed several people online describing the same frozen screen at the same stage, also on HP models. Now it’s all done I’m glad I got this and didn’t have to spend much. It’s working smoothly now. I don’t really have an opinion about the screen or anything like that because I’m not using it for regular daily tasks.

Good battery life and storage. It’s lightweight compared to my old Toshiba. I don’t love the texture of the plastic composite they used to build it. It’s somehow both smooth and grainy feeling, very staticky (attracting all the hairs and dust). Tried to take a close-up picture but it’s hard to capture the texture. Also, the up/down/sideways arrows which normally are under the return key are to the right, making those keys awkward to use. Aside from these two abnormalities, the keyboard works well and easy to use.The curser is very sensitive. I often put it where I want to click and when I go to click the curser is not where it should be. If you use a mouse, this should not be a problem, but I use my laptop w/o a mouse so it is a bit irritating. Aside from these minor problems, this is a great laptop.Would definitely buy this product again.

Mine just came in yesterday and I have started the process of setting it up today (only 2 days); I’ve downloaded Google Chrome and a reputable subscription based VPN app (S mode was deactivated for the purpose of downloading Chrome). After downloading those two, I set up 2 administrator users and one standard user. In the process of setting up the other administrator user: the laptop crashed and the screen turned black. I’ve tried hard resetting and am leaving it to charge overnight. My intended use was for education for when I’m not at home (I have a desktop and obviously no one is going to bring a whole tower to every class they go to) so I wasn’t planning to use anything fancy — word and chrome.In terms of performance before it crashed:1) CPU was at 100% and was still slow when opening up apps (I wasn’t far from my main mesh router and my actual desktop works fine so can’t be internet problem)2) It made me do a recovery startup when I first unpackaged and logged into my microsoft acccount and the startup took about 20 minutes3) Breeze it up — it felt warm on the bottom after an hourThinking about returning it if the laptop still doesn’t turn on (I’ve tried 2 different outlets in 2 different rooms — [wall plug] and [my extender that has anker charger and an air purifier plugged in]) tmr afternoon).Edit: I’m returning it and getting a refund; had it plugged in for a couple of days now and have been attempting to turn it on daily — no success; laptop still does not turn on

It's not fast. In fact, I got this to replace a YEARS OLD Chromebook. It's only so slightly faster than it. I does take quite a while to do any updates. Last night after about 15 minutes doing yet another update, it was sitting at 0%. After about 30 minutes when I left the house, it was at 12%. The feel of it is very "cheap." Heck, just now, only days old, one of the keys on the keyboard stuck and I could not use the period button. Overall it is functional, but that's about it. The old adage is true, "you get what you pay for." It's a cheap laptop and that's about it.

There is an error message ever since I opened it that says “Boot Device Not Found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk”. I had to buy a clip on stereo speaker which sounds fantastic.Wifi: it's one of the slowest wifi laptops I own. I have a lightning fast connection here and right at my router, I can't get this to download faster than 250mb per sec. But it still does the job.Lastly, the worst part of this laptop is the battery. It drains so fast, it's actually sad. They really had something here but failed on one of the most important things on a laptop. You can literally watch the battery go down. I've had to use power saver just so I'm not constantly charging this battery to the point of it no longer having charge capabilities.Thankfully I don't need the laptop like others do. You would think with the cons I've supplied here that my review would warrant less stars. The truth is, for what this is, it's great. I wanted a back-lit keyboard, a 1TB drive and at least 16 gig of ram running windows 11. I got just that. I just really wish the battery was better and that's my biggest issue with this. Other than that, I've pushed this thing hard as a music computer and it's been great. I'd buy it again, however, I'd look and see if I could find something like it with longer battery life.

Will make a really good school or low level gaming laptop compared to latest games.It came with a 128gb 800mbps m.2 drive that was slow for windows 11 so upgraded it to 1tb 3500mbps m.2 drive. There are mixed reviews and info even from the manufacturer on if it has a extra ram slot or not but this one does not have one. All the ram is soldered to the motherboard and needs to be taken to an Acer shop in order to upgrade. Out of the box it used 6/8gb of ram at first then after the updates it dropped down to 4/8gb used. The system is pretty fast for only having 4gb free. The processor is the main feature I ordered it for since it is a 4core-8thread processor with speed ranging from 2.5ghz to 4.3ghz. After trying some more power demanding games the temp could still not pass 50c and stays quiet and cool to touch. It normally stays idle around 41c when not under a heavy load with no sound from the fans. The screen is decent quality but not meant for games since it's LCD and not being led the games get a bit of blur here and there with higher fps. Word of advice is when installing a different operating system the WiFi drivers do not reinstall with the system so any online activation is almost useless unless you have a usb-ethernet adapter. The battery lasts me around 6 hours in performance mode but in power saving mode could possibly last 9+ hours and way longer with some power setting tweaks. The graphics says 600mb dedicated and 3400mb shared but unlike a lot of systems all the shared moves straight to dedicated making it 4gb for the graphics. The value is pretty good and the appearance is slick. My older brother was checking it out and thinking of buying one now because of how well it does. Some upgrades to look into if you know what your doing is a new m.2 drive with a faster transfer rate and also possibly an upgraded 15.6inch screen that's 1080p-4k.

I am literally writing this review on this laptop in class.I just wanted a (Windows) laptop that I can code on and do a couple assignments while on campus. I never have to worry about the battery dying on me unless it was already really low. It is surprisingly fast but obviously not as fast as a $2000 laptop. Fast enough I would say.Right out of the box, I was instantly very surprised at how good quality everything felt and looked. It is actually pretty large in size but not cumbersome. But as I keep using it I do have some nitpicks about it:- The screen portion is pretty bendable to the point where I feel like you can easily break it. Now I don't know who would do that on purpose but you should watch out.- No backlight on keyboard makes it hard to see keys in low light.- Keyboard feels sort of hollow. Probably because it is cheap.- Fan is noticeably loud, say if the class is quiet. But I do prefer it to be cool and be a little bit loud than it be hot.- Fan ramps up randomly. Like I could have a simple assignment up with 2 tabs open and it could kick on for some reason even though the workload is not much. Then other times I have a bunch of tabs and another application open but it will stay silent.Other than that it is perfect if you need a cheap laptop to get some work done at school or code like me. Definitely recommend.

I should have done more diligence, and read more reviews on YouTube and other sites before buying this particular model laptop (the A 315 24P in the 7320U configuration). It's slow, sometimes freezes up with basic programs, and you can't upgrade RAM, which really hurts. Very misleading descriptions and advertising for this product. There are several similar model options, be very careful when comparing.Pros: Cheap, which is the big selling point here. Easy initial setup, boots quickly, lightweight, display quality is not horrible, decent battery life.Cons: It's slow...like really slow. I get stuck waiting to click on internet links, navigating back and forth between pages, and when using software programs...waiting for the computer to respond, and occasionally having to reboot. This is with plenty of space on the hard drive, also. The fact that you can't upgrade the RAM is really frustrating,the 8gb dual chips are soldered on, no way to change or upgrade.There is no backlit keyboardor touchscreen toggling, despite what the Amazon descriptions might lead you to believe. Sound quality from the onboard (tiny) speakers is horrible, even with my very low expectations for that. Super "tinny" and low volume.Overall, very disappointed. Make sure you read eveything very carefully before purchasing, and research the exact model elsewhere besides Amazon before buying.

★★★★★ Very Good For Limited Use. I got this laptop for use while traveling. Will not use it for demanding software. It's slow. but in the acceptable range. It comes with Windows 11 Home in S mode. S mode limits the software you can use to those available in the Microsoft store. It wouldn't let me use LastPass or Dropbox. It came with Dropbox for S mode, but I couldn't get it to run.I removed S mode - once it's gone it can't be restored - and Dropbox and LastPass ran fine as did Chrome. It took several hours for Dropbox to sync my files, but it did so effectively. Thus, I have access to everything on my hard drive at home. I plugged in a tiny Samsung 256 GB flash drive (it costs $22 on Amazon) into a USB port and now I have far more storage than I'll ever need on this computer. The drive is so small that I'll leave it there for the life of the computer.All the programs I'll need when away from home run on this device. I wouldn't try to use it for gaming, but as a work away-from-home laptop for relatively simple tasks, it does the job at a very affordable price.

Only issue to me its that it’s a pain in the butt do download google chrome on it, which, I wouldn’t care about using necessarily however apparently a lot of programs online only work with chrome. Not a dealbreaker though. It’s a little slow but she gets the job done. If you want a computer to blow you away with how great it is, spend some more money and get a better one. BUT if you need a nice little laptop to get the essentials done, this will do the trick. But if you’re going to get all nitpicky then invest some more cash in a different computer.

★★★★★ Good Laptop At A Fair Price. For the price, this laptop gets a 5 star rating. Well, more like 4.5 but I couldn't give it that. It's a good sized laptop with a clear screen. It's pretty darn fast and it looks pretty sharp. Speakers are decent but not mind-blowing and for what it's worth, it has a camera, which is, again, passable, not mind-blowing. The keyboard on the one I got is more of a darker grey (it's advertised as ash grey, which I believe is a lighter color) but I actually like the darker keyboard better. Typing on the keyboard is pretty smooth too. It could use one or two more outlets on the sides though. You only get one USB Type-A port, one USB Type-C port and a headphone jack. Fine if you're more of a minimalist, but not ideal for multi-tasking work. Also, a little tip; When powering on, all you need to do is press the power button, NOT press and hold. I didn't realize that at first and thought initially that their was a problem. Just a piece of advice. Overall, it's a good laptop, at a fair price and should work well for the "Average Joe". I just got it, so the only question I have is, how long will it last? Hopefully it lasts me quite a while. But we'll see. I also got one of the recommended carrying cases for it, but that's another review for another time. Overall Rating: 4.5/5 stars.

I put a wireless mouse on it because I had some trouble using the mouse pad but that was more me than the laptop. Also attached a wireless printer with WiFi and everything went well also. ★☆☆☆☆ USB drives don't work for booting. I cannot get it to boot off the USB drive. I've tried disabling the internal drive and everything I know to do in BIOS. All I get is a dreadful blue screen. The answer I received is "Does not work with MS Windows as a backup external drive" The computer is useless if you need to install a different operating system such as Windows 10 or linex from the USB port. The USB port is dead until Windows 11 is loaded and the drivers are loaded for the USB port. I'm not sure this is a computer problem or a Microsoft problem. I have noticed that most of the cloning so software has now been made unavailable even on Amazon. We are older and handicapped and need a simpler operating system. The new windows 11 is too complex for us and full of bloatware and advertisements. If all you want to do is use Windows 11 and use the USB ports for data only this will work. However, we want to separate our banking records and any financial transactions to a separate USB drive that we can unplug for financial protection. We could easily do this on Windows 7 and a different computer to the SATA ports. Because we're older and not so technical savvy Microsoft is forced us into Windows 11 and is basically forced us because of its complexity into position where we cannot use a computer. When my older computer dies we will no longer be able to do our financial transactions, look at photographs and videos. It is sad when a large company like Microsoft discriminates against older users.
